Review | Clear Skincare Clinic

October 24, 2013

Branching out a bit from my usual topics today. I thought I'd share my recent experiences with the Clear Skincare Clinic. I've been dabbling into making some lifestyle changes of late, focusing less on materialistic consumption and more on what you'd call 'self-improvement' I guess (for want of a better cliché haha). Naturally, it's involved changing up my diet (I'm following the James Duigan Clean and Lean diet right now) and spending up on beautician services. Nb: Nothing drastic - I draw the line quite firmly at anything involving botox or surgery of any kind.

Anyways, I was offered the timely opportunity to trial out the services at the new Clear Skincare branch which opened up in Newmarket recently. They are a well established company which has been operating in Australia for 14 years now, and have finally made the jump across the ditch. They offer a range a services from acne treatments, skin rejuvenation treatments, to laser hair removal. I tried the latter. Having never considered it before, I was initially apprehensive to say the least. I was under the impression that anything involving lasers would be rather dangerous and potentially very painful. I'm pleased to say that it turned out to be neither. The session is so simple, only mildly uncomfortable (on the scale of 1=shaving to 10=waxing) and was over in a matter of 15 minutes. The best thing about it though, is the results will be almost permanent. It usually takes around six sessions in total (spaced out by a few weeks, the waiting time increasing as you get more treatments done). For reference, I'm only up to my second session but I'll probably need less than six (fine hairs, lucky me). The only downside to know of is that you''ll have increased sun-sensitivity in the week after lasering, but in the grand scheme of things, I think I can definitely live with applying sunscreen more regularly. Much, much preferable than being a slave to razors and wax strips every other week.

In addition to the laser, I'm also trying out their minipeels. A once-a-week AHA face mask to improve skin texture and fade away pigmentation. I'm getting good results from it so far, much smoother skin and spots clearing away, now I'm just hoping to see scar marks start to fade after a few more uses.

With summer coming up, I'd definitely recommend paying the Clear Skincare Clinic a visit if you're looking to improve your skin condition. I'm hooked already, and thankfully, the prices are actually very reasonable - the laser prices are very similar to getting waxes done for example. Also, I took advantage of the 50% off special they're offering on first time treatments. Not sure how long the promotion is going for so I'd get in quick.
